About the Company Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.Purpose of the Job To supervise on-site rig and hoist operations in line with PDO's operational and HSE Standards to deliver wells / remove production deferment as per work program within time and budget.Education & Experience A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Engineering Science disciplineShell Round 2 certificate.Minimum 7 years experience in Wells CWI/WRM/Hoist/Drilling Engineering including Site Supervisor, Wells Operations and Planning & Design Engineer.In depth understanding of well services, workover and abandonment operations from experience in CWI/WRM/Hoist/Drilling front end engineering and execution.Main Responsibilities Principal Accountabilities • Assure that quality well examination is carried out on well intervention, as well as abandonment designs and well work over programs across the well life cycle for compliance with the relevant PDO, Shell and Industry standards across the entire portfolio.• Responsible for management of live PEC (Programme Examination Check) sheet for high-risk wells covering safety critical steps of the well program that should be completed during execution of the program.• Responsible for periodic review and well examination of routine well intervention activities • Responsible for MOC verification and MoC & Deviations related to PDO standards.• Assist in developing well examination competencies within the operational teams and assure well examination quality by through regular level 2 checks on high-risk wells and periodic checks on medium and low-risk well examinations.• Periodically conduct Well Delivery Process self assessments/ health checks.• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the relevant standards and legislation to enable competent Well Examination.• Support the Well Control Manager with the update of standards under his custodianship.• Participate in Well Delivery Process Review/Decision Gates to assist teams in complying with standards.• Decrease re-currence of frequent Well Examination findings by actively sharing the common findings with the Wells teams.• Enhance Process Safety Excellence in the interface area between Asset / Operations and Wells and strengthen front end engineering in Wells.• Use the Well Engineering KIM framework to contribute towards making UWD a learning organizationsation.• Motivate, coach, mentor and develop direct and indirect subordinates; coach Design Engineers as required to improve well designs and well work programs.• Live the PDO Values (Honesty, Integrity, Respect for People) and demonstrate safety first leadership at all times. Challenges• To provide Wells Process Safety and Well Design Integrity assurance for a large number of CWI/WRM activities • Prioritize work to focus on high risk, non-routine activities whilst challenging risk normalization for low/mediun, routine activities. • Due to the nature of the role a high standard of professionalism and integrity is a pre-requisite in order to maintain the required independence and impartiality to the line of business.• Avoid getting involved in well design or operational decision unrelated to WPS assurance.
