Brief Description We are seeking an Environmental Officer to join the HSSE Department and support the implementation of environmental compliance and monitoring programs related to air quality, noise management, water resources, and waste management. The role will be responsible for supporting environmental assessments, monitoring environmental performance, and ensuring compliance with company standards and the environmental regulations of the Sultanate of Oman. The Environmental Officer will provide field-based environmental support, assist in the implementation of environmental management plans, coordinate environmental monitoring activities, and contribute to maintaining MMC’s commitment to responsible and sustainable mining operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting environmental stewardship and ensuring that all project activities are conducted in accordance with approved environmental requirements and best practices. Detailed Description Assist in the development and implementation of programs to ensure regulatory compliance in a cost-effective manner while managing environmental risks effectively. Support the review and updating of HSSE guidelines and procedures related to environmental management. Supervise and coordinate site waste sampling, profiling, transportation, and disposal in accordance with Oman waste management regulations. Assist in delivering and overseeing environmental and safety training for MMC employees at all levels. Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental policies and procedures. Stay up to date with applicable environmental regulations in the Sultanate of Oman. Participate in reviewing existing environmental programs and recommend improvements to ensure compliance and effectiveness. Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team and support emergency preparedness drills and real incidents. Collaborate with the Emergency Response Team in responding to environmental incidents such as chemical spills and leaks. Conduct regular environmental inspections to monitor compliance and assess pollution levels. Support investigations into environmental incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Participate in internal environmental audits and compliance assessments. Identify environmental non-compliances and support their resolution. Support waste management and pollution control initiatives across site operations. Promote environmental awareness and educate employees on environmental health and safety practices. Assist in preparing, submitting, and managing environmental permit applications and regulatory approvals. Prepare environmental reports required by regulatory authorities and internal management. Support the acquisition, renewal, and modification of environmental permits. Provide ongoing guidance and support to management to ensure full environmental compliance.
