The AMI Data Operations Team Lead is responsible for leading the AMI/AMR data operations team, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of meter reading and billing data across all Advanced/Automated Meter Reading (AMI/AMR) systems. The role oversees data correction, meter master registration, and pre-billing validation processes, manages and develops the team of AMI Data Analysts and Specialists, drives resolution of escalated data issues, and partners with billing, IT, GIS, and field operations leadership to minimize revenue loss, strengthen data governance, and continuously improve data quality standards.Team Leadership & Supervision: Leads, coaches, and manages the day-to-day performance of the AMI Data Operations team, allocating workload and ensuring monthly billing deadlines are consistently met.Quality Assurance & Escalation Management: Reviews and approves complex data corrections, oversees resolution of escalated AMR/MMR anomalies, and acts as the final point of escalation for unresolved data issues.Meter Master Data Governance: Oversees the accuracy of meter master registration, updates, and asset records across all backend systems, ensuring data standards and governance policies are consistently applied.Failed Meter Backlog Management: Directs the planning and prioritization of failed/non-communicating meter resolution, coordinating with field teams to clear backlogs within agreed timelines.System & Backend Support Oversight: Oversees backend technical support provided to the team, including system access, data extraction requests, and troubleshooting of operational system issues.Asset Data Reconciliation Oversight: Oversees reconciliation of water meter and material asset data, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved before month-end close.Reporting & KPI Management: Consolidates and reviews KPI dashboards and management reports on meter reading rates, data completeness, and backlog resolution, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.Pre-Billing Validation Oversight: Oversees pre-billing validation checks and exception reviews, ensuring outliers, negative/zero consumption, and estimation cases are cleared before submission deadlines.Head-End / MDM System Governance: Oversees configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of the AMI head-end system and Meter Data Management (MDM) platform, and leads integration checks with the billing system.Root Cause Analysis & Process Improvement: Leads root cause and trend analysis on recurring meter failures and data anomalies, driving corrective and preventive process improvements across field and technical teams.Data Governance & Documentation Oversight: Oversees data quality procedures, standard operating procedures, and data dictionaries, ensuring team-wide compliance with data governance standards and audit requirements.Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Serves as the primary liaison with billing, GIS, IT, and field operations leadership, aligning on data standards and representing the team in cross-functional and vendor discussions.
