Job DescriptionRoles & ResponsibilitiesThe Procurement Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of materials, components, and services required for the manufacturing of power and distribution transformers. The role demands strong technical understanding, vendor management capability, and cost optimization skills to ensure uninterrupted production and quality compliance.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Sourcing & ProcurementSource and procure critical raw materials such as CRGO steel, copper, aluminum, insulation materials, transformer oil, bushings, OLTCs, and other componentsDevelop and implement procurement strategies aligned with production plans and cost targetsIdentify and onboard reliable vendors, both local and international2. Vendor ManagementEvaluate supplier capabilities, quality standards, and delivery performanceConduct supplier audits and performance reviewsBuild long-term relationships with key vendors to ensure supply continuity3. Technical EvaluationReview technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs for procurement requirementsCoordinate with design and production teams to ensure material compliance with technical standardsParticipate in techno-commercial evaluations of vendor proposals4. Cost Optimization & NegotiationNegotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliersAnalyze market trends and identify cost-saving opportunitiesImplement value engineering and alternative sourcing strategies5. Inventory & Supply Chain CoordinationEnsure timely availability of materials to meet production schedulesMonitor inventory levels and minimize excess or obsolete stockCoordinate with logistics for import/export documentation and shipment tracking6. Quality & ComplianceEnsure procured materials meet required quality standards and specificationsWork closely with QA/QC teams for inspections and approvalsEnsure compliance with company policies and industry standards7. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier documentationPrepare procurement reports, cost analysis, and vendor performance dashboards
