Job Function To provide technical and instructional support for teaching laboratories by preparing laboratory facilities, equipment, and materials, maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment, and assisting faculty members and students in the delivery of practical laboratory education. Responsibilities 1. Set up, operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments as required. 2. Provide technical support to academic staff during laboratory practical sessions and assist students in the safe and correct use of laboratory equipment, instruments, and laboratory procedures. 3. Prepare skills lab demonstrations and simulated learning activities in coordination with instructors. 4. Provide resources in the skills and simulation lab for mastery of psychomotor and clinical reasoning skills. 5. Contribute to teaching and learning activities by assisting in laboratory demonstrations, supervising practical sessions, and supporting the assessment and grading of students' practical work, laboratory reports, and related activities, as assigned. 6. Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments through routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and coordination of repairs. 7. Ensure safe handling, storage, and security of laboratory materials, and comply with laboratory health, safety, biosafety, chemical safety, waste disposal, and relevant institutional regulations. 8. Maintain accurate laboratory records, equipment maintenance logs, inventory records, and other required documentation. 9. Stay updated with relevant laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and technological developments to support teaching and laboratory operations. 10. Ensure that all laboratory sessions and practical activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and institutional regulations. 11. Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager, Head of Department, or Dean Experience At least 2-3 yrs. of experience in the field of specialization. Skills 1. Ability to organize, operate, and maintain teaching and research laboratory environments in an efficient and safe manner. 2. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary academic and technical team. 3. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 4. Competence in the use of information technology and laboratory-related software applications. 5. Ability to ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and quality standards Qualification Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/institution in the field of specialization.
