The Senior Project Engineer – Studies &
Delivery supports the Technical Studies Lead in the execution and coordination
of COMPANY's project studies across the full Front-End Loading (FEL) lifecycle.
The role is responsible for managing assigned study workstreams, coordinating
multi-discipline technical inputs, maintaining study progress tracking systems,
and ensuring consultant deliverables meet COMPANY's quality, governance, and
schedule requirements.Operating under the technical direction of
the Technical Studies Lead, the Senior Project Engineer serves as a key
day-to-day interface with study consultants and specialist technical firms,
resolves technical integration issues across disciplines, and prepares study
documentation for gate reviews. The role contributes to the preparation of
investment-quality study outputs from Scoping through to Gate 3 FID.Study Workstream
Execution & CoordinationManage
and coordinate assigned study workstreams across all FEL phases — Scoping
(G0–G1), Pre-Feasibility Study (G2), Definitive Feasibility Study (G3), and
FEED — ensuring each workstream is delivered to agreed scope, schedule, and
budget under the direction of the Technical Studies Lead.Prepare
and maintain study workstream schedules, deliverable registers, action logs,
and milestone trackers for each assigned study phase, providing regular status
updates to the Technical Studies Lead.Identify
deviations from approved study plans early and escalate to the Technical
Studies Lead with proposed corrective actions.Maintain
the study document register for assigned workstreams, ensuring version control,
document traceability, and alignment with COMPANY's governance framework from
concept through to Gate 3.Coordinate
the collection, consolidation, and review of technical inputs from consultants
and internal COMPANY functions at each study milestone.Apply
lessons learned from previous studies and projects to the design of study
scopes and management plans.Consultant
Interface & Deliverable ManagementServe
as the day-to-day owner-side interface with assigned study consultants and
specialist technical firms on behalf of the Technical Studies Lead, ensuring
deliverable quality, schedule adherence, and alignment with COMPANY's terms of
reference.Review
and comment on consultant draft deliverables — including technical reports,
study inputs, engineering calculations, cost estimates, and discipline outputs
— providing structured, evidence-based feedback in accordance with COMPANY's
quality standards.Maintain
consultant deliverable registers and KPI tracking systems, monitoring
consultant progress, flagging performance issues, and reporting to the
Technical Studies Lead.Coordinate
RFI processes, technical queries, and clarification requests between COMPANY
and study consultants, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.Support
the Technical Studies Lead in the procurement and onboarding of study
consultants, including scope of work development, terms of reference
preparation, and technical bid evaluation support.Ensure
all consultant deliverables are archived systematically in COMPANY's document
management system with appropriate version control and traceability. Multi-Discipline
Technical IntegrationCoordinate
multi-discipline technical inputs across geology, mining, metallurgy, process
engineering, infrastructure, utilities, and environmental disciplines for
assigned study workstreams, identifying and resolving integration gaps and
inconsistencies.evaluation
documentation as directed by the Technical Studies Lead.Participate
in value engineering workshops and contribute technical inputs, identifying
opportunities to reduce CAPEX, improve schedule, enhance operability, or reduce
technical risk.Maintain
value engineering registers, documenting findings, decision rationale, and the
carry-through of VE outcomes into subsequent study phases.Support
the preparation of trade-off study summaries and value engineering reports for
presentation by the Technical Studies Lead to the Director Studies &
Delivery. Study Controls
& ReportingPrepare
regular study progress reports for the Technical Studies Lead covering
workstream status, deliverable tracking, schedule performance, consultant
performance, and key risks.Maintain
the study budget tracking register for assigned workstreams, monitoring
consultant fee expenditure against approved budgets and flagging variances to
the Technical Studies Lead.Coordinate
study risk registers, identifying, documenting, and monitoring study-phase
technical and delivery risks, and escalating material risks with proposed
mitigations.Support
the Technical Studies Lead in preparing study progress updates and gate review
presentations for internal stakeholders including the Director – Studies &
Delivery and Project Controls team.Prepare
and maintain study cost estimate summaries, AACEI classification records, and
cost basis documentation for each study phase.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mining, Process,
Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.PMP or equivalent project management
qualification is an advantage.Minimum 8 years of progressive experience
in mining or industrial project development, with demonstrated involvement in
FEL study phases (Scoping, PFS, DFS or FEED) in an owner's team or EPCM
environment.Proven experience coordinating
multi-discipline technical inputs across geology, mining, metallurgy, process
engineering, and infrastructure disciplines in a study or engineering
environment.Experience reviewing and commenting on
consultant technical deliverables, engineering reports, and study outputs,
with demonstrated ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and technical
deficiencies.Familiarity with AACEI cost estimation
classifications (Class 1 through Class 5) and their application to
study-phase cost estimates.Working knowledge of JORC Code and NI
43-101 reporting standards and their application in feasibility study
documentation.Experience preparing and maintaining study
schedules, deliverable registers, budget trackers, and risk registers in a
structured project management environment.Familiarity with Stage-Gate governance
frameworks and FEL lifecycle management principles in a mining or heavy
industrial project context.Demonstrated ability to prepare clear,
well-structured technical reports, meeting minutes, action registers, and
study progress summaries for senior management audiences.Experience in the management of
metallurgical testwork programmes and validation of process design criteria
against testwork outcomes is preferred.Exposure to value engineering facilitation
and technical-economic trade-off analysis across study phases is preferred.Prior experience working on copper, gold,
chromite or industrial mineral projects is an advantage.
