Laboratory Teaching and Practical SupportPrepare, set up, and demonstrate practical sessions in:Blood BankingTransfusion MedicineImmunohematology techniquesAssist faculty in delivering laboratory-based teaching and simulation exercisesProvide hands-on training in:Blood grouping and crossmatchingAntibody screening and identificationCompatibility testing and transfusion proceduresEnsure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) during practical sessionsLaboratory Management and MaintenanceMaintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning of:Centrifuges, incubators, gel card systems, etc.Monitor and maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumablesPrepare and submit annual requirements for consumables and equipmentEnsure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and biosafety standardsStudent Support and AssessmentGuide students during laboratory sessions and ensure active participationMonitor student progress and provide feedback on practical skillsAssist in assessing student performance through:Practical examsLaboratory reports and competency checklistsSupport students in developing technical and diagnostic competenciesClinical Training SupportAssist in coordination of clinical placements in blood banks and transfusion servicesCommunicate with hospital laboratory staff and preceptors when requiredSupport evaluation of student performance during clinical trainingResearch and Academic SupportAssist in preparation and execution of student research projects and wet lab activitiesSupport faculty in laboratory-based research activities where requiredAdministrative and Documentation DutiesMaintain accurate records of:Laboratory inventoryEquipment maintenance logsStudent attendance and practical performancePrepare laboratory manuals, worksheets, and teaching materialsSupport accreditation and quality assurance documentationProfessional Development and ServiceParticipate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities and workshopsStay updated with advances in transfusion medicine and laboratory technologiesContribute to departmental academic activities and eventsGeneral ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with faculty and laboratory staff to achieve departmental objectivesDemonstrate professionalism, innovation, and commitment to quality educationPerform any other duties assigned by the Head of the MLS program
