Purpose of the Role The Assistant Legal Officer provides support in managing the company’s legal affairs, including reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, preparing legal documents, and assisting with legal research. The role helps safeguard the organization’s interests while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company’s interests. - Support in monitoring compliance with local laws, regulations, and internal policies. - Conduct legal research on various matters and prepare summaries or recommendations. - Maintain and organize legal files, records, and documentation. - Coordinate with external legal counsel on ongoing cases or specific matters. - Prepare standard legal correspondence, notices, and internal reports. - Assist in managing litigation and dispute resolution processes, including gathering documents and evidence. - Support in handling company secretarial duties (such as preparing minutes of meetings, board resolutions, statutory filings) if required. - Stay up to date on relevant laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations. - Handle other legal and administrative responsibilities, as well as assist with internal investigations. - Provide assistance in translating documents related to legal matters. - Reviewing contracts and providing legal advice to relevant departments and their respective heads. - Renewing company contracts and following up on their expiry dates. - Monitoring and renewing commercial registrations and licenses. - Representing the company before competent authorities and government bodies. - Following up on legal cases with relevant entities and appearing before the competent courts if necessary. - Performing additional administrative tasks related to the company’s legal affairs and coordinating their implementation with the concerned authorities. REPORTING TO: Senior Legal Officer QUALIFICATIONS: - A minimum of bachelor’s degree in law - A minimum of 1 - 3 years of related experience - Basic understanding of corporate, contract, and commercial law. - Fluency in English is essential. - Strong drafting and communication skills. - High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. - Proficient in MS Office and legal documentation tools.
