Learning Resources Specialist (Sur Campus)

Job Function

The Learning Resources Specialist is responsible for maintenance of LRC sur campus and its collections and providing information and research services to users. He ensures that the center materials are current, easily accessible and available to Learning Resources Centre users.

Responsibilities

1. To identify, evaluate and recommend for purchase of books and other Sayyid Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Busaidi Learning Resources Center materials. 2. To classify and catalogue the center materials. 3. To provide reference and information services to the center users. 4. To assist the center director in preparing the budget and the operational Plans of the center. 5. To assist and participate in conducting the center orientation sessions for new students and faculty. 6. To assist promote the use of the center services and resources through orientation, instruction and organize training and awareness programs for stakeholders 7. To maintain the discipline in the center and implement rules and regulations. 8. To help students in preparing class assignments and projects. 9. To record and evaluate the center donations. 10. To assist in shelve the resources and follow up on the reservation of LRC study rooms. 11. Any other related tasks as per line manager instructions.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience as Librarian or Learning Resources Specialist preferably in an academic library.

Skills

1. Excellent in using computer including word processing, spreadsheets, email, databases, Internet searching and integrated library/ Learning Resources Centre management systems. 2. Knowledge and experience of using library/ Learning Resources Centre management system. 3. Effective written and communication skills. 4. Good interpersonal and communication skills. 5. Ability to deal fairly and effectively with large groups of male and female students. 6. Fluent in English & Arabic.

Qualification

Bachelor degree in Library Science\ Information Studies or a closely relevant related field, from a recognized university.
