Position: PYP Homeroom Teacher / Class Teacher Location: Muscat, Oman Employment Type: Full-Time This position is open for Omani nationals only. Job Summary The PYP Homeroom Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework and the school’s educational philosophy. The teacher will create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development. Key Responsibilities • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the IB PYP curriculum and inquiry-based learning approach. • Foster student-centered learning and encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. • Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including students with special educational needs and learning difficulties. • Collaborate with the SEN Department and support staff when required. • Assess, monitor, record, and report student progress effectively. • Maintain positive classroom management and encourage positive student behavior. • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. • Participate actively in meetings, professional development sessions, workshops, school events, and extracurricular activities. • Attend assigned school duties, including break duties, arrival and dismissal supervision, and event responsibilities. • Maintain accurate records and follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and Ministry requirements. • Support the wider school community and carry out additional duties assigned by the school leadership when required. Qualifications & Requirements Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications approved by the Ministry requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education. OR • Bachelor’s degree with educational training/qualification in Primary Education. OR • Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree or Diploma in Primary Education of not less than one academic year. Additional Requirements • The Primary Education Teacher position is for teaching in English for Grades (1–3) in English Language, Mathematics, and Science subjects. It may also allow teaching other subjects in English such as ICT. • The transcript of the required qualification must include various school subjects, especially English Language, Mathematics, and Science. • An English language proficiency certificate with a minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS or 525 in TOEFL is required for Omani applicants. • The candidate’s stated experience must have been conducted using the English language. • The position is offered to females only for teaching Grades (1–4), while males are allowed to teach Grades (5–6). Preferred Qualifications & Skills • IB PYP or international school experience is an advantage. • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. • Strong classroom management skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Good organizational and time management abilities. • Flexible, collaborative, professional, and proactive attitude. Working Conditions • Full-time position based on the academic calendar. • 5 working days per week. • 8 working hours per day / 40 hours per week. • Flexibility to attend and work after school hours and during weekends when required for school events, workshops, meetings, training sessions, and other school-related activities.
