Job DescriptionRoles & ResponsibilitiesGeneral Manager – FinanceExperience: Minimum 20 years (Age below 45 years)Qualification: Chartered AccountantPreferred industry: Shipping & LogisticsDepartment: Finance & Accounts, MUSCAT OMANLocation: GCC (Oman / UAE / Regional Operations)Reporting To: Cluster Director of P&L Cluster________________________________________Role PurposeTo lead and manage the financial strategy, planning, compliance, and performance of the Shipping & Logistics business, ensuring financial health, regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and strategic decision support aligned with business growth in the GCC region.________________________________________Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.Act as a strategic partner to the leadership team for business expansion, investments, and operational efficiency.Drive profitability, cost control, and capital efficiency across shipping, freight forwarding, and logistics operations.________________________________________Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.Monitor financial performance vs budget and provide variance analysis.Support pricing strategies for shipping, freight, warehousing, and logistics services.Conduct feasibility studies for new projects, routes, or service lines.________________________________________Accounting & Financial ReportingEnsure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS.Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed asset management.Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.Consolidate financials across multiple business units/entities.________________________________________Compliance & GovernanceEnsure compliance with GCC tax regulations (VAT, Corporate Tax where applicable).Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.Strengthen internal controls, policies, and governance frameworks.Ensure compliance with shipping, port authority, and logistics-related financial regulations.________________________________________Treasury & Cash Flow ManagementManage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.Optimize funding, credit facilities, and liquidity.Oversee forex risk management due to international shipping transactions.________________________________________Cost Control & Operational FinanceMonitor and control operational costs (fuel, freight, port charges, warehousing, fleet maintenance).Improve cost efficiency and margins across logistics operations.Drive automation and financial process improvements.________________________________________Business PartneringCollaborate with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams.Provide financial insights for contract negotiations, tenders, and pricing.Support strategic initiatives such as expansion, mergers, or restructuring.________________________________________Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop the finance team across locations.Ensure strong succession planning and capability building.Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance.________________________________________
