To ensure smooth start-up of work units that are new to join PDO’s fleet by assisting PDO and contractor staff in activities ranging from equipment specification, design, selection, quality assurance and operational readiness assurance (People, Equipment and Systems) and auditing.To act as Subject Matter Focal Point, providing in-depth expertise on all matters related to rig/ hoist/ utility equipment as well as start-up and commissioning.Education & Experience
Bachelor or Master of Engineering/ Science degree in an Engineering discipline.ISO Lead Auditor certification is preferred.Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 10 years as either a Maintenance Manager with a major drilling contractor or as a Rig Inspector/Surveyor for mechanical, electrical, and structural equipment on drilling and workover rigs within a rig inspection company.Proven experience working with OEMs in the design, optimization, and enhancement of drilling/workover units and related equipment.Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical drilling rigs, including SCR and AC-VFD systems.Familiarity with DROPS, Red Zone Management, hazardous area classification requirements, and risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA, and Bow-Tie analysis.Good understanding of quality management systems and industry standards, including ISO 9001, API Q1, and API Q2.Main Responsibilities
• Manage the selection, upgrade, design review, procurement, and commissioning of drilling rigs, hoists, and related equipment, ensuring compliance with operational, maintenance, safety, and industry standards. •    Review Factory Acceptance Test procedures and to attend FAT of selected safety critical and operationally critical equipment if required.•    Monitor contractors’ rig/ hoist Front-End Engineering & Design  design review and construction phases•    Review Failure Modes and Effects Analysis , Failure Mode Effects Criticality Analysis  and Hazard & Operability studies submitted by the vendor/ contractor and to liaise with the relevant contractor Project Manager on technical issues related to commissioning and the acceptance of the work unit.•    Review, verify and approve pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures.•    Work closely with other PDO teams, Contractors and vendors to ensure timely start-up of assigned work units post contract award. •    Review the final acceptance documentation for assigned drilling, hoists and other work units and assist with documenting and resolving punch list items.•    Verify and approve pre-commissioning, commissioning and acceptance tasks for assigned drilling and utility units, assess contractors’ start-up readiness and follow up on gap closure plans, providing HSE and technical expertise as required.•    Review and provide feedback to Contractors Preventative Maintenance requirements and schedules of safety critical equipment if required. •    Lead audits of work units to support PDOs assurance processes if required.•    Support contract owner and Well Operations Manager in developing and executing strategies for acquiring and operationalising rigs, hoists and other work units. Assist in developing associated start-up plans.•    Prepare tender packages for rigs, hoists and other work units and participate in the tender evaluation process.•    Support Well Delivery teams by providing expertise on work unit selection, work unit commissioning and start-up.•    Participate in the inspection and ranking of short-listed work units, specifically assist with the assessment of contractor’s technical capability, tender evaluation, gap analysis on technical and HSE standards, evaluation of contractor’s HSE Case and related bridging documentation, evaluation of crew competency and crew training plans in start-up audits. Assist in the implementation of gap closure plans.•    Facilitate the operationalisation of PDO’s technical and HSE standards during work unit start-up and provide training as required.•    Identify and follow up on opportunities to deploy new technologies on assigned commissioning projects if there is a business case. Once in operation, monitor work units’ maintenance status and contractor’s performance related to equipment issues, investigate and advise on substandard work unit performance.• Act as focal point for the commissioning and start-up of drilling and workover units, providing technical advice and support to Management and project teams.• Participate in equipment failure investigations, lessons learned tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives for future rig selection and operations.• Maintain and support knowledge management activities related to rig/work unit commissioning, start-up standards, contracting strategies, and operational best practices.
