Research Assistant in Statistical Linguistics and Corpus Analysis

Job Function

To assist in the systematic identification, extraction, classification, and documentation of statistical linguistic laws across different linguistic and literary levels, as part of the Encyclopedia of the Statistical Laws of the Arabic Language project.

Responsibilities

Conduct systematic literature reviews of Arabic and international statistical linguistic studies.Extract statistical linguistic laws from published research.Assist in building and organizing Arabic linguistic corpora.Perform descriptive statistical analysis using appropriate tools.Classify extracted laws according to linguistic field (phonetics, morphology, syntax, rhetoric, prosody, stylistics, etc.).Draft structured encyclopedia entries under supervision.Participate in project meetings and submit periodic progress reports.Assist in preparing research papers derived from the project.

Experience

Experience in academic research and literature review.Familiarity with statistical analysis in linguistic studies.Experience in corpus-based research.Experience in academic writing in Arabic and/or English

Skills

Strong foundation in Arabic/English linguistics.Knowledge of statistical concepts (frequency distribution, correlation, hypothesis testing).Proficiency in MS Excel and statistical software (SPSS or R).Ability to work independently and within a research team.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Good written and oral communication skills.

Qualification

Bachelor's, Master's, PHD in Arabic/English Language, Arabic Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, or a related field
