JOB PURPOSE
Mazoon Mining Company (MMC) is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the company's sales, offtake execution, and commercial growth agenda. Reporting to the CFO, this role sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and the market — turning MMC's operational and financial performance into commercial proposals, revenue-generating relationships, and disciplined risk management. The Commercial Director will work closely with customers, off-takers, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure MMC's growth and value protection.
MAIN TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Devise and implement commercial strategies that drive MMC's overall growth and revenue performance.
• Translate the company's operational and financial position into well-supported commercial proposals for management and the Board.
• Develop and foster client and off-taker relationships across the industry to create new business growth opportunities.
• Partner with the CFO to establish financial plans that are aligned with commercial strategy and market realities.
• Identify expansion, diversification, and growth opportunities and apply commercial management skills to bring them to execution.
• Execute the current offtake agreement(s) in line with agreed commercial terms, ensuring MMC meets its contractual obligations.
• Coordinate closely with Operations, Logistics, Legal and Finance to ensure smooth, on-time delivery of MMC's product to clients.
• Negotiate with clients, customers, and suppliers on free-float and spot volumes to maximize return on investment for the company.
• Provide regular, structured progress updates to the CFO on commercial projects, negotiations, and market developments.
• Conduct periodic market research and competitor analysis to identify prospective customers, off-takers, and business opportunities.
• Maintain accurate reports and records of budgets, expenses, and revenue associated with the commercial function.
• Act as the internal point of reference for other departments on commercial processes, contract terms, and pricing mechanisms.
• Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks (price, counterparty, contractual, logistics) and devise mitigation strategies.
• Support preparation of Board and Investment Committee materials relating to sales performance, pricing, and commercial strategy.
• Monitor concentrate/product pricing mechanisms, quotational periods, and provisional vs. final settlement processes with off-takers.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Certifications (Preferred):
The following certifications are not mandatory but are viewed favorably and reflect the breadth of the role:
• Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) — commercial and contract management.
• Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) — International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM/WorldCC).
• Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) — international trade and offtake structuring.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) — for cross-functional project and delivery coordination.
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or CMA — strengthens the financial-planning interface with the CFO.
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in business, finance, or strategy (advantageous, not required).
• Negotiation-specific certification (e.g., Program on Negotiation / Harvard PON, or equivalent) is a plus.
Experience:
• Min 15 years of progressive experience in mining, metals, or oil & gas, with at least 5 years in a senior executive commercial role.
• Strong acquaintance with business development, marketing, or trading functions within a commodities environment.
• Prior experience in a leadership or people-management role.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and operate independently as a senior commercial professional.
Technical Skills:
• Commercial & Financial Acumen: Comfort with pricing formulas, contracts, and negotiation of commercial terms.
• Offtake & Trading: Execution of offtake agreements, free-float and spot volume negotiation, and settlement processes.
