JOB PURPOSE The Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Manager leads MMC's corporate communications, reputation management and stakeholder engagement agenda, building trusted relationships with government, communities, media and key business stakeholders. The role is responsible for protecting and enhancing MMC's corporate reputation, strengthening its social licence to operate, and ensuring effective communication and engagement in support of the Company's strategic and operational objectives. The position also coordinates community investment, CSR and local-content initiatives in partnership with relevant business functions. MAIN TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMMUNICATION STRATEGY & BRAND MANAGEMENT • Develop and implement an effective corporate communication and media relations strategy that promotes, protects, and builds the Company's reputation, in alignment with corporate strategy and priorities. • Manage the Company's brand(s) to safeguard reputation as one of the Company's most valuable assets. • Identify industry benchmarks and establish communication performance indicators to align the organisation with best practice. • Proactively identify and create opportunities and stories that promote the Company's brand and reputation, in consultation with the Head of Corporate Support. MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS • Act as spokesperson for the Company, protecting the brand and building a positive media profile and positioning. • Oversee all external communications to ensure messages are clear, consistent, and aligned with overall Company strategy. • Release editorial coverage (press releases, interviews, and reports) through relevant media channels and update internal communication channels on a timely basis. • Work closely with retained PR agencies and freelancers, maintaining continuous and consistent communication to ensure timely delivery of assigned work. • Provide guidance to the press office team and ensure Company spokespeople receive appropriate media training. STAKEHOLDER & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local businesses, financial stakeholders, government officials, and community representatives. • Establish mechanisms to drive engagement, alignment, and understanding of the Company's strategy and priorities among all stakeholders. • Conduct regular field visits to engage with local community stakeholders and understand their needs and concerns. • Ensure a high level of external interaction is maintained professionally in both English and Arabic. LOCAL CONTENT, CSR & ESG • Develop Corporate Responsibility policies, processes, and frameworks to ensure proper implementation of the Company's CSR aspirations. • Execute an integrated local content and social responsibility programme to promote the Company's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. • Promote In-Country Value (ICV) and ensure local content plays a central role in policies providing opportunities to local communities. • Partner with the Contracts & Procurement function to encourage and promote ICV opportunities. • Work with the HR department to identify recruitment and training opportunities for the local community. • Survey local market potential and identify opportunities for local Omani businesses. • Ensure Company compliance with ESG standards and best practices. INTERNAL COMMUNICATION & GOVERNANCE • Build strong working relationships across departments, providing expert advice on communication and stakeholder engagement initiatives. • Ensure efficient and effective use of communication channels, reviewing and updating them to meet audience requirements. • Leverage internal communication channels to reinforce the Company's social responsibility policies and influence key stakeholders. • Prepare the organisational budget for communication and stakeholder engagement strategy implementation, ensuring alignment with overall Company objectives and timelines. • Ensure programmes remain aligned to the approved budget, reporting any deviations on a timely basis with reasons and recommended corrective action. • Ensure compliance with internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and corrective actions within desired timelines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Sustainable Development, CSR, Management, or a related field — required. • A postgraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing is desirable. Certifications (Preferred): • Certification or Diploma in PR, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing is desirable. Experience: • Minimum 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or local content-related disciplines is required. • Proven track record of managing corporate reputation, media relations, and stakeholder or community engagement programmes. Technical Skills: • Corporate Communications: Strategy development, brand management, media relations, and crisis communication. • Stakeholder Engagement: Relationship building with government entities, local communities, and business stakeholders. • CSR & Local Content: Development and execution of CSR, ICV, and local content programmes. • Business Understanding: High level of business understanding relevant to the Company's operations and strategic priorities. • Microsoft Office proficient (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Soft Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an articulate and clear writing style. • Effective communication, listening, and presentation skills. • Excellent administration, organisational, and event management ability. • Project and community risk identification skills. • Ability to build positive working relationships with the team and within the communities the Company operates in. • Ability and willingness to travel.
